I started learning drums at the late age of 13 and was self taught until taking my A-Levels at the Grammar School in my home town. Upon completing my studies on the Guildhall syllabus, I went on to begin a 3 year BA(hons) degree in Music at Colchester Institute where I studied Orchestral Percussion under the watchful eye.

After graduating in 2001, I returned home and began working for the local County Music Service as a Peripatetic Instrumental Teacher and Youth Band leader where I stayed for 8 years. During this time I began a busy side career as a freelance drummer and percussionist, working Internationally as a show band musician.

I am still highly in demand up and down the country due to my versatility and reading skills and command a busy schedule of gigging and recording whilst still working and teaching from my new home in Camberley. In recent years I returned to my studies under the masterful tutorage of nationally renowned technique instructor Bob Armstrong.
Traditional
Every student attending drum lessons will primarily learn on this kit.
An additional floor tom is available for more advanced players who are used to playing with an augmented setup and a full set of industry standard studio microphones are available for those who may wish to record their most recognised achievements!
Modern
The alternative is a custom finish Roland TD20 electronic kit which has been fitted with the TDW20 expansion board to bring its sounds and capabilities in line with Roland's flagship model.
This is available for drum students and musicians with aspirations of working on more modern chart material and is a great way of experimenting with advanced coordinations and rhythmic orchestrations.

Experience
I have 17 years experience at teaching and am the resident tutor at Newcastle Drum Centre. I also work for Northumberland County Music Service and a number of private schools in the North East area. I am a former student of Newcastle College where I attained Bachelor of Music status with Honours.
I regularly perform at drumming events in the North of England. Some of these venues are: The Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle Civic Centre, The Live Theatre Newcastle, The Sage Building, The Customs House, Middlesbrough College, Newcastle College Performance Academy.
